Don't you wanna be the life of the party?
Set in the roaring twenties, lovers Queenie, a vaudeville dancer, and Burrs, an abusive vaudeville clown, decide to throw the party-to-end-all-parties in their Manhattan apartment. After the colorful arrival of a slew of guests living life on the edge, Queenie’s wandering eyes land on a striking man named Black.
As the decadence is reaching a climax, so is Burrs’ jealousy, which erupts and sends him into a violent rage. Gun in hand and inhibitions abandoned, Burrs turns on Queenie and Black. The gun gets fired, but who’s been shot?
The dark tones of the show depict sex, drugs, and jazz and climax into the wildest party ever seen. The musical will be performed in an alley design, creating a much more immersive experience for the audience and inviting them in as party guests.
All tickets are general admission with seating on the balcony and the main floor.
Following Friday night performances, audiences are encouraged to attend “The After Party,” a murder, mystery and mayhem-themed cabaret event featuring understudy and alternate performances.
Preceding the 11 p.m. performances on Saturday nights, audience members are encouraged to dress in their best 1920s attire for the immersive “Queenie’s Club” lobby experience; this experience features a costume contest, mocktails and 1920s music to elevate the environment of the late-night show.
This play contains mature themes. Parental discretion is advised.
The Wild Party is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
